Courtroom Basics Going to Court
Video Video

If you have never been to court before, you might find it to be an intimidating place. One way to feel more comfortable is to learn about the people that will be in the courtroom during your trial and their roles. Watch the videos below learn what to expect in the courtroom during your trial.

Cases are heard either in person or remotely (via Zoom)

In Person and Remote Hearings

All cases will be heard remotely unless otherwise instructed by the Judge or Magistrate. If you do not have the ability to appear by Zoom.com on an internet-connected device or by telephone, you may appear in person, but you must notify the Court at email@ghmc.org or by calling 216-475-1900 at least 5 DAYS BEFORE the hearing. Failure to appear by Zoom.com or in person shall result in a warrant being issued for the arrest of the Defendant.

Do not appear without calling The Clerk, so security can prepare for your arrival with health screenings. You must appear at the Court House at 5555 Turney Road, Garfield Heights, Ohio on the date of the hearing, and you will be subject to Court COVID 19 screening procedures.  The Clerk’s Office will email you a more in-depth explanation of these COVID 19 screening procedures and protocol for appearing in-person.
These procedures can also be found online under the Zoom heading at:  www.ghmc.org/forms
